I Don't Wanna Talk (I Just Wanna Dance) serves as the lead single from the deluxe issue of Dreamland (+ Bonus Levels). In September, the group released the follow-up single to their breakthrough hit. Justin Biebers Despacito (Remix) came in at number two, followed by Luis Fonsis. Last year their third album Dreamland debuted at Number 2 becoming their highest-charting effort to date. The most streamed song of 2017 was Ed Sheerans Shape Of You. Since forming in 2010, Glass Animals have released three studio albums, 2014's Zaba and 2016's How To Be A Human Being, which peaked at Number 23 on the Official Albums Chart and was nominated for the 2017 Mercury Prize. Heat Waves is nominated for best single and Glass Animals are nominated for best rock/alternative act at this year’s BRIT Awards. Heat Waves has a sole songwriter, the band’s Dave Bayley, which makes Heat Waves the first Spotify chart-topping song since Pharrell’s Happy in 2014 to be written by a single person.

It’s the latest record that Heat Waves has broken, having recently taken 42 weeks to climb into the Billboard 100 and well as taking a similar 35 weeks over here in the UK. Heat Waves is currently amassing over 4.26million streams a day on Spotify, according to the latest data. This makes Glass Animals the first British band to ever (ever!) reach the top spot. The song Heat Waves, which has been a slow-burning success since it was first released in June 2020, has now been streamed over 1.1billion times on Spotify, has now hit the top of Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart. Glass Animals have become the first UK band to reach the top of Spotify‘s global singles chart.
